The AiR Maxx Flex 2.0 is made of open cell foam with microscopic air chambers. When impact occurs on the shoulder pad the load is spread. The impact causes the arch to engage the cushion, which forces the air within the cushion to move throughout the foam chambers dissipating the pressure. -This pad features our TPU cushioning and D3O technology that is in our most popular helmets. The TPU is durable and will not break down. The D30 is lightweight, soft and flexible and is positioned over the shoulder for optimal impact absorption. -The pad has a clavical channel system and a tactical arch design to minimize weight without sacrificing hitting zone protection. The body, deltoid and scapular pads are removable to custom fitting and easy washing. - The Skill pad gives you a deep cut arch for a wide range of motion. - Super-light construction for maximum speed. Ideal for: Running Back, Tight End, & Defensive Back

Schutt Schutt Hit
Size Large fits 5'10"/217#/14 year old Freshman great. Lightweight, Minimalist Design, Removable Pads, 4 Small Pads for Custom Fitment (felt weird w/ McDavid 5-Pad Undershirt, so he's not using them.) Took a few days for padding to get broke in, on first trial fitment the edges were stiff and digging in arm pits when belts were cinched down. Added the Air Maxx Back Plate for additional coverage. Great Schutt OL/DL pads, perfect mate to his Vengeance VTD II helmet. Of course getting an answer out of him whether he can Hit harder with the pads, is an effort in futility. I can attest to the difference in bruising on upper arms vs Riddell school issued pads, there aren't any, whereas the Riddell pads he couldn't even raise his arms or swing them while running due to bruises.

😕 one star because of packaging and possible someone else’s return.
The pads appear to have been made of good quality however, the one that I received must have been a return and have been used. It wasn’t brand new it didn’t come in the original packaging from the company it had no retail tags attached or any booklet. I have bought shoulder pads from that company before therefore I knew what to look for. I would have loved to have kept the pads but I had to return them I wasn’t going to pay over $200 for someone else’s Scuffed return.

Re: Great pads, questionable length
The pads are great as far as shoulder/clavicle protection and are lightweight and strong. However, they are supposed to be 'longer cut' but are essentially the same length as the 'skill' position pads that my son wore in youth football. My son is a now a freshman LB and at 6'1", these do not go down far enough as compared to Douglas pads he had. Feel the 'longer fit' claim made by Schutt should be retracted from the description.

Never had anything better!
Good afternoon!First of all, I'd like to say that in my country there's no store, shop or whatever where you may buy (american) football equipment. So that's why we have to order everything online. It means that every single item goes through a deep analysis. Before buying Schutt Sports Air Maxx Flex 2.0 Skill Shoulder Pads I watched plenty of videos, reviews and etc. not only about this product but about all the shoulder pads which could be delievered to my country. And I'd never say that I made a bad choice! These super-lightweight, durable and comfortable shoulder pads make me feel more emancipated, I don't have any doubts somewhere in my mind that something's (serious injury or kind of fracture) going to happen with me.I'd recommend this product to everyone! These are the best shoulder pads that I found on amazon.com

Good pads
Kid plays DB and TE. Pads worked great. Plenty of hard hits, no problem. He removed a couple of the pads (in arm pit area, front and back) to improve his range of motion a bit, but they were pretty good out of the box.
