Not sure why the bad reviews on these. They are cheap but work as expected. My son is 9 and plays catcher in baseball and we put a fresh one on each time he goes out in the field (brought a ziploc bag with ice and water to store and refresh them). I was hot too and used one and it was fantastic at cooking me down. They do plump up (see pic) but still flexible enough to tie around neck.

I had one of these (not from this seller) and it worked great! I couldn't find it before a long trip so I bought these after reading the reviews.DO NOT BUY THESE.They overfill when you soak them so they get so stiff that if you try to bend them the beads either pop out of the material or into the part where you tie them. The material they are made of doesn't allow the material to breathe I guess, so even if you flick it like the others, it doesn't cool off. Overall you have a waterlogged, heavy handkerchief around your neck that makes you hotter.

I bought the 3-pack and followed the directions and I keep then in the fridge. They didn't cool for hours, but worked well enough for one-hour aerobic's classes.

I absolutely love these!! I looked all over in Arizona trying to find these instead of the cool towel they sell!! Those things are awful but these are fabulous and light weight! I have extreme hot flashes due to menopause and and autoimmune disease I have and living in Arizona where it is very hot these have helped 100 percent. Cooking dinner when it's really hot I grab one out of the fridge and wrap around my neck and it cools you down immediently. After blowing my hair dry I do the same thing and it cools you quickly. I wash them in a bowel of warm water and soap and they are good to go again for a week or so then I clean them again. When they start getting flat again I soak in cool water until they inflate again and then they go back into the fridge for when I need them next.

Even after soaking and storing in refrigerator over night it was not any better that the wet bandana I had been using. 2 star because it did cool for a short period but no significant improvement over a wet bandana.

Works well for camping and when your power is out due to hurricane in south FL where is it very hot! It really DOES keep you pretty cool! I could sleep for a little bit due to this thing, thank GOD we grabbed these! I also put the 3rd one of the pups neck to keep her cool!!! oh, and yard work is a breeze with these things too.
