I first came upon this book about 5 years ago, after hearing an interview with the author. wow. Wow. WOW!!I found the recorded prayers within, to be very parallel to the verses the LORD lay on my heart to pray for them. And I dated each page, who I was praying for that day, then recorded my own prayer in the blank area on the page.Then, I did it all again. And again. Until there was no more room to record my own prayers.Then, last spring, my husband agreed that we should go thru it together <3 And so we did. This has been so rewarding, so I began giving it as gifts to others with prodigals <3 to encourage as well as to instruct them as well.My husband and I bought a new book for our morning devotions before he leaves for work <3 Such a wonderful way to begin our day!Yes, yes, YES - this book is outstanding!!!!!!! Prayers for Prodigals: 90 Days of Prayer for Your Child by James Banks (Author)When I finished reading Hope Lies Ahead: Encouragement for Parents of Prodigals from a Family That's Been There by James and Geoffrey Banks, I knew the next book I would be reading is the one I’m reviewing right now.In fact, I’ve read it once and am reading it again, and will probably keep it as part of my daily devotional books; it’s that beautiful. I couldn’t wait and do it a day at a time for 90 days, I consumed and savored the beauty of the words and the prayers. I could feel the pain, the sincerity and the love of these poignant scripture-filled prayers.I do believe prayer is one of the best and most concrete things we can do for our loved ones. I loved that there were both prayers for sons and daughters, although I hated that their family, like many others have had more than one prodigal. I believe prayer is a working tool towards family recovery and this family knows it well.I’ve taken this book with me to small group meetings where people have been blessed by the prayers within as well as to the radio station PRAYERLINE (WAPN FM, 91.5 HOLLY HILL, FL) after being given gracious permission to read as needed on the air.This book is a Christian classic! I have to agree with Franklin Graham, his mother would’ve loved this book, just as so many of us have loved her “prodigal” book.Donna Collins Tinsley

I ordered this book three years ago and I'm sorry it has taken me so long to review it. If you have a prodigal in your life the prayers in this book will be a tremendous blessing to you and your prodigal! I have two, both walked away from the Lord in different degrees. Both were out of church and living worldly lives. Both grew up in a Christian home and attended Christian school. I know the terrible sorrow of watching young adult children make worldly decisions that will have a negative impact on them forever. The situation seems so hopeless but please keep soldiering on in prayer! This book is full of amazing and wonderful prayers that will keep you on track on your prayer journey for your prodigal! I have prayed through it twice. Both prodigals are back in church! One has returned fully to the Lord, been baptized, and attends church regularly. She has given up her worldly ways and is living under the Lord's wing! Please don't hesitate to purchase this book. It has a wonderful weekly lesson and daily prayers, all backed by scripture! God will use it to change your prodigal! You will weep as you pray and as you see your prodigal SLOWLY change their life and come back to the Lord! I am currently purchasing two more copies to share with friends.

I'm so very thankful for this book. It has helped set me free from worry, distress and ever-present heartache over my prodigal child. Each day addresses a real issue in the lives of prodigals, but rather than focus on the issue, the author leads the reader to focus on God, His attributes, and His promises. This is not a frivolous application of God's promises, but a Scripture-paved road to lead the reader's thoughts to confidence in God and a peaceful heart. Some days I pray in tears, but I always close the book with a heart uplifted by the encouragement of Scripture and the author's own faith in God. Some days the subject may not apply as closely to my child, but they are easy to adapt as I pray through each day's Scriptures. This prayer devotional is part of my daily quiet time with the Lord. When I reach the end of the book, I start it over again the next day. I've given many of these books to Christian friends with prodigal children, and every one has come back to tell me how much this book has helped them get out of a prayer rut, pray wisely, and put their trust in God for their child. I pray one day I can give my own beloved copy away because my prodigal has come home to our Father God. Until then, I will pray through this book.

I am not one to pray a written prayer but i find myself talking to God as I read the pages of this amazing devotional book. There is a daily devotion (90 days of prayer for your child) and a weekly devotion (13) So the first day of each week I read the weekly and the daily devotion and all the scriptures that the devotion documents. When I read the devotions, the author has some of the devotions refer to “her” and some to “him” as the author’s prodigal. I replace those words with the names of my children and grandchildren. I was so encouraged and impressed with the book, I purchased one for a friend. I am at this date starting week 5 “The stretcher of Faith” and Day 29, “Snatched from the Fire.” Today’s scriptures and written scenarios were amazing amazing. Thank you to author, James Banks, for writing such a “real life” communication with God for my children and grandchildren.

I have read it at least 3 times now. I pray for my sons without ceasing. But I run out of words or ways to tell God what's in my heart. This book helps me when I just don't know what else to say or how to word my prayers.

A guide for parents....speaks to the heart of every parent for their children! God is good! Blessed be His name!

It doesn’t matter the reason our children have walked away from God, this book of prayer expresses exactly our cries and our hope for our kids regardless of their age. An excellent resource.

Powerful prayers; full of scripture, encouragement and hope. While I wait for God to change the heart of my child, he is in the process of healing mine.
