I love these!
I had been trying to decide on what to grow my seeds in for weeks before finally settling on these. I had originally wanted rock wool but I suffer from lung problems as it is and did not want to increase any risk of more lung injury. I had read that rockwool can be a risk to skin, eyes, and lungs so despite all of the great videos about using it I decided to pass. (Its impact on pH didn't help either.)Then I looked into coco and it seemed like too many negative comments for my hydroponic plan. So I went back to reading more. After reading hundreds of reviews and being stressed out I finally decided to give these a chance as they seemed like the least likely to cause me any problems. Boy am I glad that I did! These are beautiful! They are perfectly sized for my seed trays and are the perfect mix of firm and soft. They are moist and hold the moisture just right. No smell and no mold. Handling them gave my sensitive skin absolutely no irritation.I will be growing mostly tomatoes and pepper seeds in these and will come back to report how they did to help people make their decision but for now, just know that these are of great quality. I hope this gives someone the peace of mind that I was desperately seeking for the last few weeks. One last note-the bag inside the box had split a little due to shipping. This didn't affect anything but to be on the safe side have some Ziploc bags ready to transfer them so they stay moist.Hope this helps! Good luck this year! =)Update 1/8/21:Just received my second order of these and they are perfect. Absolutely love them!Update 1/15/21:On 1/8/21, I wet a Carolina Reaper seed and tossed it into one of the holes, and sprayed some water on it. After daily spritzing and keeping 80 degrees F, it has germinated and is on its way to growing FAST!Update 3/4/2021These are still amazing. I put a ton in ziplock bags and there is still no mold or bad odors, etc. I just tear off a little piece with tweezers, stuck it in the hole to achieve the depth I need and then put the seed. I add water and then put a little piece of torn off plug on top. 100% success so far. I highly recommend these wonderful plugs.

Ahh....no limit to the cloning now. At 22 cents a plant I have given up dirt cloning and gnats forever. Russian Sage gets a little too wet but I just squeeze them drier. These are as good as the brand I was using that was twice the price. I clone in a closed tub. I get a storage tub and tie-wrap an led light to the lid. The tub is 28 inches long to accommodate a 2' lamp. The tub needs to be about a foot deep. I use a led florescent lamp in summer and the old-style in winter for extra heat. I clone everything in the yard. I buy a 4" plant this year and next year it's a drift of flowers in the yard. Zone 9, dry climate helps, lol. Yeah I also clone a popular herb. If it wilts, just submerge the whole clone, leaves and all in water for a few hours and it will re-hydrate. Good quality and inexpensive.12/2019 Back for my third bag. 9/9/2020 Amazon says I have ordered this 7 times. If I leave them on the counter in the light for weeks they get a bit of white mold on them. I spray a little hydrogen peroxide on them and rinse them out. This next time I think I will dry them out when I shut down my cloning tub. 11/16/2020 The eighth order....I use these upside down so they stand on their own. I poke my own hole with my small clippers. I stick those clippers in hormone before making the hole. I put 4 or 5 clones in a ziplocked bag and leave it open in my cloning tub. When I see roots I pot them into dirt in 7 oz clear cups then on to 4" pots. New growth is very quick to clone. Cloning cubes make it possible to clone older harder cuttings from weather worn plants.2021 my nineth purchase. I couldn't get this brand last year. I am still using a closed tub, Ziplock bags in a plastic shoe box. I can fit a lot of flower cuttings in. My cold greenhouse is growing last summers petunias. I decided to clone in December rather then throw away the trimmings. Future self, it's $.25 a clone this year.

Master Gardener approved!
I am a Master Gardener. I start a LOT of seedlings. I did an experiment. Using the same seeds from the same packet, I used 1) a Jiffy seed starting kit with the included plugs; 2) a high quality seed starting mix and my own biodome containers; and 3) these plugs with my biodome containers. Both the seed starting mix and these plugs WELL outperformed the Jiffy kit. It was shocking, actually. But these plugs are easier and neater to use than a seed starting mix, and resulted in zero seedling damage when potting up to larger containers. They hold water well, they are fast and easy and make little mess. And they just pop right out when potting up is needed. HIGHLY recommended, I will be using these as my go -to seed starting medium from now on!

Good, but inconsistent shape
I got 100% success rooting cuttings with these in a humidity dome, so that's really good. But I did remove one star for the following reason. The only issue I have with these is that in the pack I received the sizes are inconsistent. The diameter of the cylindrical shape varies by as much as 30%. When using these in a normal size seedling insert tray, some of them fill the insert perfectly to the edge, which I imagine is the correct size, and some of them leave a lot of space between the plug and the side of the seedling insert. this causes the smaller ones to dry out faster, which is a problem if you're not on top of the watering.Other than that issue, I would recommend them for sprouting seeds or rooting cuttings in humidity dome.
